World Whisky Day is a day for whisky lovers over the globe to celebrate the water of life. It takes place annually on the third Saturday in May, with this years festivities falling today on the 17th May.
The day was founded in 2012 by Blair Bowman, who at the time was studying at Aberdeen University. Bowman discovered that whisky didn’t have it’s own dedicated day, unlike other drinks, and set about to change this.
Whether your preferred tipple is a single malt Scotch, blend, Japanese, Irish or American bourbon/rye this is a day designed to celebrate all types of whiskies no matter your palette or preference.
So, go dust off your favourite whisk(e)y and enjoy with friends, family or in the privacy of your own company. Slàinte mhath.
