Product Details

This 17 year old Orkney Isles single malt was produced at the Highland Park distillery and bottled in 2022 as the limited release John Rae Arctic Explorer edition.

Matured mainly in bourbon casks, in addition to refill and seasoned sherry and European oak, this is one of just 1212 bottles filled at a powerful 54.8% ABV.

Orkney-born Rae was regarded as the leading authority on Arctic travel and survival in the Victorian age, John grew up in these islands, perhaps defined by Orkney’s unforgiving terrain, tempestuous seas and wild weather, to become the man who would map over 1,750 miles of uncharted Arctic coast on foot or alone in a small boat.
