Product Details
This 12 year old Laphroaig single malt was laid to rest 2 days before HRH Prince Charles' famous visit to the Islay distillery, to award a Royal Warrant, in 1994.The visit was meant to be brief, of around twenty minutes, but HRH's plane overshot the runway in windy conditions. This gave the then distillery manager Iain Henderson an extra couple of hours with HRH signing various casks for charity whilst the new plane arrived. Apparently the royal was anxious to get home to view the "confession interview" broadcast that evening on the BBC with David Dimbleby.
Distilled on the 27th June 1994 and bottled for Highgrove in 2008, with just 280 bottles filled from cask number 7229, this is a very rare single cask with an interesting story attached to it to boot.
