This exceptionally rare sherry-casked Springbank was distilled in December 1964 and bottled for the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, under Society Cask number 27.39, in June 1996.
Filled at a natural strength 51% ABV after 31 long years in Sherry wood, the Springbank distillations from this period have garnered stunning accolades and are so rare they should be placed on an endangered species list.
Okay, so this may not be the prettiest bottle ever, but they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? And we can see right though the imperfections and report to you that the contents are truly breathtaking - a statement backed up by the WhiskyFun critcs, who awarded this a huge 94 points.
