This incredible Springbank 20 year old was distilled in the late 1970’s and bottled on Monday the 20th December 1999 as the ‘Last Bottling of the 20th Century’.
Matured in oak casks and bottled at 46% ABV, only 57 bottles of this magic malt were ever produced and exclusively made available for the Shareholders, Directors and staff of J&A Mitchell Co. Ltd, the Springbank distillery proprietors.
The rear of the bottle, carton and COA are all hand-signed by the then General Manager, Frank McHardy.
The Springbank distillery was established in 1828 on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s prohibited still by members of the Reid family, in-laws of the Mitchells. In 1837, brothers John and William Mitchell purchased the distillery. In 1897, J&A Mitchell Co. was founded. The company’s current owner and Chairman is Hedley Wright, great, great grandson of Archibald Mitchell - the 5th generation of the Mitchell family to own and manage Springbank.
