This sensational 21 year old Campbeltown single malt was distilled at Springbank in the late 1970’s and bottled on Thursday the 6th January 2000 as the ‘First Bottling of the 21st Century’.
Aged in oak casks and bottled at 46% ABV, just 59 bottles of this liquid gold were produced and made exclusively available for the Shareholders, Directors and staff of J&A Mitchell Co. Ltd, the Springbank distillery proprietors.
The rear of the bottle, carton and COA are all hand-signed by the then General Manager, Frank McHardy.
The Springbank distillery was established in 1828 on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s prohibited still by members of the Reid family, in-laws of the Mitchells. In 1837, brothers John and William Mitchell purchased the distillery. In 1897, J&A Mitchell Co. was founded. The company’s current owner and Chairman is Hedley Wright, great, great grandson of Archibald Mitchell - the 5th generation of the Mitchell family to own and manage Springbank.
